Saturday, May 4th, 2019 George Schlegel Art Gallery Roeland Park City Hall 4600 W 51st St #200, Roeland Park, KS 66205 6pm - 8pm A little about Sevenelle: I started Sevenelle Creative as a name for my freelance work in 2015 after moving back from Chicago. What began as mostly as a resource for graphic design and marketing, Sevenelle quickly became an outlet for me to express my love of travel and capturing the world around me. I began participating in art shows and selling my photography around the KC area at events including Strawberry Swing and First Fridays in the Crossroads Art District. Although Sevenelle is not full time, I hope to grow my business to sustain a creative lifestyle. I love design, typography, photography, and all things creative, and found Sevenelle to be a dream come true I didn't know I had. I'm excited for this journey and I can't wait to share more opportunities and experiences as they come. Thank you for all of your support! I couldn't do this without you. ♡ Jess

Happy holiday shopping! In honor of World Photo Day, we're sharing some of our favorite shots from Kansas City and around the globe. What are some of your favorites? Share in the comments below! ![]() This was of my favorite hikes through Lagos de Covadonga, Picos de Europa. We were completely surrounded by mountains and what sounded like wind chimes, though we found later that they were bells on the cows roaming the fields below. We hiked with people from all around the world, including one man with a trombone, and took a moment to share the same breathtaking view. Witnessing the mountains rolling into the distance in every direction just reminds you of how small you really are and it's an incredible experience. We ventured out to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for Third Thursday, a celebration honoring the works of Jackson Pullock and many other artists of the abstract expressionism movement. This installation by Luis Tomasello entitled Chromoplastic Mural, caught my eye because the longer you stare at it, the more you see. From the beginning, everything looks to be placed at random, but inspecting it longer, you start to see patterns and that each piece was placed with intention and purpose. This is only a close-up of the wall-spanning artwork, but I highly recommend taking a trip to the contemporary wing to see for yourself. As we wandered the streets of Porto, we found the personality of the city is not only in its people, but in its stores, buildings, and architecture. This business in particular caught my eye for the simplicity of their identity, the typography of their logo, the illustration of their signage, and the blue of their exterior. Everything about this storefront relates to my own aesthetic and I felt an immediate connection. Researching more, Typographia is an international collaborative project for artists, designers, and printers to create art and t-shirts to share with the world. My brother and I had spent the day at Oceans of Fun, to enjoy the last few weeks of summer. As we walked out to the car at the end of our day, I looked up to find the Mamba making an ascent to the top of its iconic first drop. The serenity in this photo is what caught my attention - the stark contrast of a thrilling structure against a washed, empty sky. On our way out of Potes, we stopped for breakfast at a place that was empty of people, but full of personality. Something as simple as a car out front had struck me because it was different than the automobiles we're accustomed to here in the States. Someone's personal mode of everyday transportation had suddenly become something so intriguing. I was fascinated and completely enamored with even the most mundane of Spain and can't wait to plan another trip. Standing on what felt like the edge of the entire world, we found ourselves at the most western point of continental Europe at Cabo da Roca, Portugal. The view was completely breathtaking, and not just because of the absolute terror that any misstep could lead to a sheer drop down the face of the cliff to the rocks below. It was surreal. We were as high, if not higher, than the clouds that rolled across the restless sea as it slammed the rocks of the shoreline, but everything was somehow quiet and still. To think this is all still happening now, today, all day, every day, still, my breath escapes me. One of my favorite places in the world I've been to, so far. Our Airbnb accommodations in Sintra, Portugal were nothing short of spectacular. From the artwork, to the architecture, to the hammock on the patio outside, to the courageous puppy that would stand watch on the roof, just to see who was coming home. I loved every single bit of it. This was a piece in our bathroom, something so simple: a white pitcher hanging by its handle to carry a bouquet of flowers. It was a moment of simplicity that somehow enthralled me. It's the little things in life that can mean the most and sometimes, you just have to stop and smell the roses.
